Thoughts on Perfection

I keep being reminded of the samurai in "The Last Samurai", who spent his life looking for the perfect cherry blossom.

In his dying moment, a shower of cherry blossoms fell around him and he gasped "They're all perfect!".

How much less perfect are we than those cherry blossoms? We spend our life dividing into this and that, perfect, not perfect. Beautiful, ugly. We are filled with low self-esteem and we are approaching life in a judgemental way.

To make an effort to see past the divisions and recognise the inherent perfection in everything.. To cease to pass judgements.. That I think, is worthwhile.

The world after, is not the same as it was. It is foolish to wait until our dying breath to see the inherent beauty of the world.

The inherent beauty in yourself.
