Thinking about Magic
I went for a drive, to buy some supplies. On the way there I had thoughts about how I could explore magic through writing on the blog page. I have already drawn a parallel between crafting a piece of writing, and "writing a spell" through a blog-post, and I think I want to explore that thought.
There is a high interest in occultism and magic now. The emergence and popularization of quantum theories has made what seems like magic sound actually plausible, and people are looking for agency in a world that feels increasingly claustrophobic to the person who desires freedom and autonomy. The notion of Magic rooted in Idealism is one such way of gaining agency. Idealism seems to gain traction as people are finding materialism to be increasingly unable to explain the world fully. Materialism's loss of traction thankfully opens up for the mysteries and the unknown to resurface in our collective consciousness. It has begun to breathe life into our imagination. At long last.
If the world is not mechanical and entirely predictable.. then what is it?
YouTube is practically drowning in AI generated videos promising that you will be able to manifest anything, yadda yadda. And strangely they are getting many views. I think there is room for a simple blog, with a human voice, speaking rationally and inquisitively about these topics.
To me it comes down to working my own spell. I have to shape my writing in such a way that the robots can accurately describe my webpage, to draw in people who would have an interest in what I am writing about. These people are philosophically inclined, deep thinkers. Old souls, perhaps.
Or modern witches and magicians. Which may or may not be the same thing. Which is not to say that these are the only people who can benefit from writing..
Perhaps I need to clarify the function of the blog. It is not there to define what the app IS, but rather what I have made it become for me when I write. The users are able to define their own spaces, and write about whatever they want. They do not have to explore non-dualism and magic, even if that is what shows up on the blog. I am not sure that will come through strongly enough.
